iPhone 5 Will Have A Wireless Mobile Payment System. since a lot of time we talked about iphone 4s and siri today we have some good news about iphone 5 for all lovers iphone 5 , Apple is planning on adding a mobile payments service to the iPhone is back. This time it’s coming from an interview a MasterCard exec gave to Fast Company.
Ed McLaughlin, MasterCard’s mobile payments boss, sort of let it slip that Apple is at least working on mobile payments in the iPhone:
…I don’t know of a handset manufacturer that isn’t in process of making sure their stuff is PayPass ready.
When asked if that includes Apple, McLaughlin said:
Um, there are…like I say, [I don't know of] any handset maker out there…Now, when we have discussions with our partners, and they ask us not to disclose them, we don’t.
But just because Apple is working on it, doesn’t mean it’ll actually come to pass. Smartphone users have been slow to adopt mobile payment systems like Google Wallet. Google Wallet uses a near field communication (NFC) chip to transfer payment data to credit card readers. (That’s what McLaughlin means when he says “PayPass ready.)
But McLaughlin does note that if a major player like Apple does adopt NFC payments, it could be the catalyst to make the system go mainstream.
Plus, this rumor isn’t new. We’ve been hearing that Apple plans to add NFC to the iPhone and iPad since 2010. It still hasn’t happened.

A quick check of the company’s online store shows all three iPhone 4S capacities—in both black and white—as “In Stock”, suggesting that new orders likely ship out as soon as the payment can be processed. “At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers. Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time,” said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless.
They’ll no doubt try to get the money from somewhere else, but for now at least you can extinguish the torches and call off the hounds.
“On behalf of American consumers, we’re concerned about Verizon’s actions and are looking into the matter,” the statement said.
A lot of subscribers have spoken out against Verizon’s decision to institute this new convenience fee. It’ll be interesting to see what the FCC ultimately decides to do, and what if any effect that has on other networks like Sprint which don’t “surcharge” but do offer “discounts” for their preferred payment options. (Just goes to show how far smart PR and better marketing language can get carriers who aren’t Verizon…)
Our sibling site Android Central has confirmed that, beginning January 15th of 2012, Verizon Wireless will start charging a $2 fee for bills paid online or over the phone.
The fee will help allow us to continue to support these single bill payment options in these channels and is designed to address costs incurred by us for only those customers who choose to make single bill payments in alternate payment channels (online, mobile, telephone).
Neither AT&T nor Sprint charge similar fees for bills paid online or over the phone. With AT&T there is, however, a small fee for paying a bill through a customer service representative by phone instead of by IVR (interactive voice response).
Apple is now accepting local Chinese bank cards as payment for iTunes App Store purchases. Also, a new analysis claims Amazon’s Kindle Fire costs $202 to build. Finally, Motorola Mobility stockholders have approved Google’s acquisition of the company.
